Mama Bear raises the door and lets him out.

This shows that a closed door doesn't keep out creatures who really want to get in if they want it bad enough. My Athena can open the door of her crate to go in when I'm about to leave. Now she can't unlock it to get out, but I wouldn't put it pass her to give it a try.

One horse, Smudge, he used to be in the box with the catch that us humans used to battle with ... not a problem for him! DJ used to use the theory that he was bigger than the obstacle, so he would just keep pushing!
