What I did on Wednesday.
Jun. 25th, 2008 03:34 pmMy friend, Tommy and I took his two nieces to see Get Smart. I'm old enough to remember watching the tv show Get Smart. Tommy saw it in reruns. He is quite a bit younger than me. His nieces are fourteen and fifteen. They didn't have any idea who Maxwell Smart was so it was just a movie to them. Mel Brooks and Buck Henry wrote the characters for the movie. These guys are legends in comedy. Did you know that back in 1998 when the movie was first in development they wanted Jim Carrey to play Smart? Steve Carell is so good I can't see Carrey doing the role. The movie is a bit different due to updating and having Smart be an analyst instead of a field agent for Control. He gets his chance when a double agent reveals the identities of all the field agents. Agent 99 had just had plastic surgery so she was able to be his partner. Lots of site gags and catch phrases from the tv show. It was great fun to watch.
We took the girls to lunch. I raised boys so girls are fun for me. They got into a fight about cheerleading not being a sport. Younger sister is a cheerleader. Seems the older one thinks since the teacher isn't called Coach then it isn't a team sport. I so did not say anything. Was fun listening to them. My boys would have ended up hitting each other. The girls were much nicer about it. I broke up a lot of fights between my boys when they were teens. My youngest was taller than me when he was twelve so it was a funny sight to watch me get between these two young men. Their dad just watched. Sigh, so many reasons he is an ex.
I will post another drabble on Thursday. I have quite a few written. Hope anyone who reads them will let me know if they like them or not. I am still learning so any comments are great.
