The election results
Nov. 9th, 2016 01:02 pmI am so disappointed that Trump won. Worse, Clinton did have more votes, but the system doesn't go by popular vote, but by each state having a certain number of votes in the electoral college.
Now I fear that so many of the freedoms wil be erased by Trump. Most people have firm ideas about abortion,but don't know that just a few decades ago if a woman needed surgery her husband had to sign off on it or she couldn't have it. I don't just mean an abortion, but not even a hysterectomy. Not even if it could save her life.
My family used a local doctor all my life. He knew us from the time I was a small child. When his son and his son's friends got a VD in high school , he would give them free treatment for it. The boys called it a Silver Bullets. When I was about to be married, my mom and I went to him to see about getting the pill. He refused to give it to me until after I was married. My soon to be husband was one of his son's friends who received Silver Bullets from this doctor. Yet I wasn't allowed by the same doctor to start birth control till after I was married. This is the sort of man that Trump is. One law for him and different ones for others.
It was a common belief at one time that a man could not rape his wife. He could beat her even and not be charged with a crime. People would look the other way. I am terrified that the US is going back to this sort of treatment under Trump.
My own father never supported my mother or his children. My mom went back to work when I was about six so she could buy us food and clothing. My father lived in our house, but didn't pay bills or do anything to provide for us. My brother left home to go into the military when I was thirteen. My mom didn't drive so when I was fourteen she decided I would have to learn to drive. The year before she wouldn't even let me ride my bike more than two blocks from home, but now I would have to learn to drive. I did go to driver's ed and got my license. Then my mom had to buy my father a truck so we could use the car. My mom would not divorce my father because she would then have to give him half of everything including the house which she had bought and paid.
So I fear for women and children in the US because I don't trust Trump. A reporter once asked Trump about abortion. He said if a woman got an abortion she should be punished. Then we all heard him talking about how he could touch and kiss a woman if wanted to and how he could even shoot someone on 5th Avenue and no one would care. So why would I trust this man?
