I tried reading the Buffy comics and just couldn't stand them.
Season eight seemed to be badly written fan fic to me and I
might have been right.

"Talking more about the Buffy comics, Whedon addressed the "Buffy and Angel
fuck a universe into existence" storyline, saying, "It's Brad Meltzer who turned the
comic into fanfic." He laughs, and adds: "Every writer comes with their own agenda
— I think Brad asked how many DC references he could make. Drew [Goddard] did
the Japanese arc, which is a big favorite of mine. He loved writing Dracula — the
silliness of that, and the giant Mecha-Dawn. We had the most fun breaking that
stuff together. Getting their voices into the story is fun. And sometimes you bring
the sexy — because we're people."

I've been watching the new show, Under The Dome. I haven't read
the book by Stephen King which is a huge book. The hardback was
over a thousand pages long. Many are questioning the series since
it doesn't follow the book verbatim. Stephen King addressed this in
an open letter.

I tried twice to crosspost this from DW. Guess there is an issue going on with LJ.

We all know how giddy we get when we meet an actor we are crazy about from our fandoms.

Quite often at cons, actors talk about meeting other actors who they admire. It's fun when
they go all fanboy/fangirl. Wil Wheaton is a true fanboy. Seems his wife, Anne, is fangirl too.

When I finished one of my photo ops in Ottawa, Nathan Fillion was doing one of his in the
photo area next to mine. Anne was with me, and I know that she loves him as much as I do,
so I grabbed her hand and ran with her into Nathan’s line.

Here's what happened next.... )

Lots of fans have never been to a Con.  I've been to a few.
Major ones and a smaller one that is close to where I live.
I've met many actors over the years.  Some are total jerks.
Some are as shy as we are. Some reach out to the fans.
Some are fans like we are. It's fun to watch an actor fanboy
out when meeting a star they love.

Wil Wheaton from Star Trek TNG has a blog where he
shares his experiences at Cons and about his life.  He
is a really funny and wonderful person. He shared a story
about one of his fans he met recently.

The 25 Worst Seasons of Great TV Shows

23. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 6
(UPN; October 2, 2001 - May 21, 2002)

Buffy's fifth season finale was one for the record books, but the events of that excellent
episode created some serious problems its following season. The result was a sixth
run that didn't quite fit the tone of a show that had built its reputation on its ability to shift
focus from deeply earnest scenes to more light-hearted moments. Yes, Buffy's weakest
season ended up earning more critical accolades than most of the other low points on
this list, but fans still feel some discomfort with its somber events.

I ran across this and one point caught my eye.

Two kinds of writers:

I've always said there are – to oversimplify it – two kinds of writers. There are architects
and gardeners. The architects do blueprints before they drive the first nail, they design
the entire house, where the pipes are running, and how many rooms there are going to
be, how high the roof will be. But the gardeners just dig a hole and plant the seed and
see what comes up. I think all writers are partly architects and partly gardeners, but they
tend to one side or another, and I am definitely more of a gardener. In my Hollywood years
when everything does work on outlines, I had to put on my architect's clothes and pretend
to be an architect. But my natural inclinations, the way I work, is to give my characters the
head and to follow them.

I have no training in how to write. This idea of architects and gardeners makes total sense
to me. It's an interesting read. Go check it out.  I can't wait for Game Of Thrones to come
back.

Lately there have been two main issues in America that bother me.
Women's rights and Gay rights are hot topics here.

Many claim that according to the God marriage is only
between a man and a woman.

I found this chart about what is said about marriage in the Bible.

I wish I was eloquent enough to express my feelings for  Women's Rights and Gay rights.
I just know how I feel and how mad I get when people want to deny others the right to
chose for themselves.

Below is a link that is NSFW, but is very interesting. The replies are varied as well.

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo has spoken out in favor of a
Maryland ballot initiative that would legalize gay marriage. Yahoo has published
a letter that Maryland state delegate Emmett C. Burns Jr. wrote last week to Ravens
owner Steve Bisciotti, urging him to "inhibit such expressions from your employee."
This is Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe's response to Burns.

I'm not a writer of sex scenes.  I do read them.
I've always said women write better m/m sex scenes.
So I took this quiz and got 8 correct out of 10.
Interested to see how my flist (many who do write sex
scenes both m/m and f/m) do on this quiz.

All he wanted was a yes, but actor Isaac Lamb is getting a big bonus after proposing to his girlfriend Amy Frankel with a very special performance of "Marry You."

In the video, shot Wednesday and posted Friday, Lamb's brother asks Frankel to listen to a song while wearing headphones. However, she gets more of a live show when she sits in the back of an open car as friends and family jump out and lip-sync to the Bruno Mars tune before Lamb shows up at the end of the video — in a suit — to get down on one knee and pop the question.

About a week ago, I made a comment on a friend's journal about how Spike changed after losing Fred.
I think that was when he finally decided to become the hero he always tried to be for some woman.
To me, Fred saw Spike for who he was instead of just a demon.  Her faith in him and losing her, to me,
was the turning point for Spike.  I think it was why he stop trying to return to Buffy. He chose instead to
become the man Fred saw in him.

Under the cut is an excerpt from a new book on Joss . In the excerpt,  the author talks about how Joss kills off the characters we love and about arcs different characters go through.  Seems the author and I share thoughts about Spike.

Puzzle Me?

As we older people get older still we all need to be concerned
with Alzheimer's disease. This puzzle is easy to put together
if you are not affected by Alzheimer's disease, but impossible
to do for someone with the disease. Give it a try. If this puzzle
is particularly difficult for you then your physician can offer
you additional testing to check you for Alzheimer's.  The sooner
you deal with the disease the more years you will enjoy life. There
have been some very remarkable new discoveries over the last
year or two in the research to cure the disease. Nothing yet cures
it but electrical stimulation of the brain seems the most promising
along with other new drugs.

A really neat puzzle

One of the new shows last season that I loved was Game Of Thrones.
George R.R. Martin has a journal here:[livejournal.com profile] grrm
I love that he has a blog on LJ instead of some fancy site.
Makes him more of a real person to me.

It seems that if someone clicks on your title of your post,
they see several ways to share your post.

more information.... )

This was Gill's and
[info]slaymesoftly's  test posts.  As you can see,
when I clicked on their title "test post" I was able to share it on my journal.
Didn't want to put it on FB or twitter, so here it is.

I love the Spotlight feature on the home page.
Though it I have found some interesting LJ communities and LJ journals.

This week [livejournal.com profile] merry_fates  is mentioned. I checked it out and found
an original vampire story which I really enjoyed.  I think I might have to
friend [livejournal.com profile] tessagratton .  Or maybe I'll just lurk a bit on her journal. Hee!
