It's being reported this morning that there was 15 tornadoes in our area yesterday.

Wide spread damage, but as of this time no reported deaths. The news stated that
15 people were treated for injuries.

We have had a couple of Tornadoes touch down around the Dallas area this afternoon.
Where I live the sirens went off, but we only got rain.  lives about twenty mins
away and said they are having rain at the moment.  Hopefully the worst if over for our area.

I am worried about [livejournal.com profile] gabrielleabelle  because a tornado did touch down close to where
she lives.  I hope she is safe and missed the worst of it all.  Saying a prayer for her and Andrew.

The storms are moving north. I hope [livejournal.com profile] goldenusagi who lives in OK isn't in danger from these storms.

Just found this on youtube.com. This is from this afternoon.
It looks like some sort of CGI from a movie.

All of the local school ended up closing on Tues here. We got snow,
but it's the ice that is staying around. Our roads out where I live are
still heavy with ice. If I could get past our neighborhood, the roads are better.
Just not enough traffic here to make them better.

Now this morning around the Dallas area, we are having rolling black outs
due to all of the heavy usage of electricity. We have an all electric house
with no fireplace. Guess the dogs and I will bundle up with lots of blankets
if/when the electric cuts out.

My car is in the shop to repair a gasket and might be fixed today.
Tues and Wed are my days off at work. Have no clue what I'll do
tomorrow if the roads do not clear up around our housing area.

Robert said he will take me to work, but then I'll have to stay there
till he gets off work. I usually get off at 4:30pm. He normally gets
home around 7pm.  His boss told them if the schools close in their
area to not come to work. Robert has a big SUV with 4 wheel drive.

He loves this type of weather and has gone to work each day.

The state flower in Texas is the bluebonnet. Each spring the roadsides and fields of Texas are covered in them.
Under the cut are some photos and the legend of how Bluebonnets came to be in our state.

The following pictures were taken around Bastrop, Texas.  People often make special trips to take photos of
the flowers.  The last few photos show why it pays to be very careful when you do this.

As a kid, I read a book about Nuclear War. The USA was bombed and Texas
was a major target. There are lots of military bases located in a grid around
my part of TX and surrounding states. So Dallas was pretty much wiped off
the face of the Earth.

I grew up with the Cold War so we had bomb shelters and lots of scary movies
about it. I watched the films at school where they told you to get under your desk
in case of an attack. How innocent were we?

I have lived most of my life in Texas. I love it more than any place on earth. This post is about Texas so if you are not interested pass on by. My uncle sent this to me. He lives in Arizona these days and misses Texas dearly.
