Texas Lingo
Aug. 12th, 2008 10:17 am I was born and grew up in a small Texas town. The only person I ever knew who wasn't a Texan was an uncle who married into the family. He was from New York and Italian. He adored us and loved to hear us talk. We just thought his accent was funny. I never knew I had an accent or used phrases that might not be common in other parts of the world till I moved to Germany when I was twenty five. Suddenly, I realized how different people were. It was a life changing moment for me. Here are some of the phrases or words I grew up hearing that might sound a bit odd to those who aren't from either Texas or even the South.
