At my job you can clock in five minutes before your scheduled time. It's retail so it allows you to be at your station ready to work at the time you are scheduled. Most of my younger coworkers never show up on time. They drift in, put up their belongings, talk to their friends and then go to their area around five minutes or more after their shifts begin. Guests are waiting to be served and team members finally show up like "What's the problem?".

I have a line at my work area, the phone is ringing and there are drive ups waiting for their order. That's the problem. Team leads don't care. I'm running around doing my best while my coworkers act like it's not an issue.

My company allows you to be ten minutes late without saying anything. The same people are late every day. One guy called saying he would be thirty minutes late, but was an hour and half late. The next day he left his area to talk to his lead about becoming a lead. Was gone for over an hour leaving me alone to deal with guest services alone. Yet if I say anything I'm in the wrong. He has been with the company about a year. I've been here twelve yrs. He acts like he is in charge and tries to order others around. He tells me I'm okay to go to lunch. Dude shut up. I'm a grown up and show up on time and do my job. You might like to try that yourself.
