Wages

The company I work for announced they would start paying $15 to $24 an hour. Minimum wage in my state is $7.25. you would think this was great news. It's misleading. The higher rate is only where cost of living is higher and even then only for certain job levels.

Several years ago they raised pay to every store to $15 an hr. I've been with them for over twelve yrs. My wage raised to $15, but everyone from day one was given the same pay. So a new cashier sixteen yrs old got the same pay I did even though my job required much more work and stress.

The next yr I got a small raise of 30 cents an hour. My job deals with returns, drive up orders and dealing with crazy people. We have a company who takes orders online for groceries and then delivers to their home. A woman called wanting me to place an order for her. I tried to explain how the system is online only with a fee. She screamed at me she hoped my mother was dead because I was a horrible person for refusing to place the order for her. We get this sort of abuse all the time. If a cashier gets a crazy person like this, they send them to me to deal with them. Retail isn't for easily upset. But it would be nice if we got paid for the abuse.
