Out of State Phone call

So late one night I got an out of state phone call. I do have family in that state, but none of their names popped up. I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know. Then I got notice of a phone message. Since my aunt who lives there is in her eighties, it sort of worried me. I finally listened to the message. It was from her not about her. Turns out my youngest cousin had passed away. He was heavy in drugs for awhile. He finally got clean and in touch with his brother again. Sadly his body was too damaged from the drugs and he passed away.
My aunt also told me about my cousin just younger than me breaking her leg just under the kneecap. She put off going to the doctor because she thought it wasn't broken. When it started swelling, she went to the emergency room. They did surgery, but she had blood clots in her lungs. They lost her twice and finally had to stop. They started her on meds and waited till she was better to finish the surgery. She is doing much better now.
I am sixth of eleven cousins on my mother's side of the family. Two older than me have passed away. Now the two youngest have passed. Two from COPD, one from cancer and now one from drugs destroying his health. Our ages range from sixties to fifties. My aunt is the wife of my youngest uncle. She is the only one left of the aunts and uncles. No one lives close to me anymore so it's always phone calls now. We were so close when we were young, sad that now we are so far apart. We lost touch mostly as we married and moved away. Our lives just don't cross much anymore.
