Mailed some Christmas cards today. It's difficult to get into the holiday spirit when you work retail. Your days are long and exhausting. People are rushed and often rude. I'm lucky in that many of those I deal with are regulars who are very nice.

I made peanut butter fudge, chocolate fudge and cookies for coworkers today. Since I do not have family near anymore, sharing treats with coworkers makes it seem more like Christmas.

I miss the large family gatherings. We would cook together and laugh a lot. There were card games and dominos. Of course there were ugly moments as well. Not everyone got along. One aunt and her family only ate the food they brought. No one was clean enough for her. We had to be careful about what we said around her. Her family belonged to a different church than the rest of the family. I remember my cousin telling me I would go to hell since I didn't go to his church. Didn't really bother me.
Seems difficult family gatherings are not a new thing.
