Two drabbles for open_on_sunday  prompt of Treasure.
Last week's drabbles were angsty and this week's are no different.
Just a different relationship this time.

Since the soul, Spike kept more to himself.

He stuck to the basement and avoided everyone when possible.

Dawn acted like he didn’t exist these days. She was still angry with him.

She only came down to the basement for her laundry.

Not one look for him as she emptied the machines.

He missed the evenings of watching TV and joking with her.

They had been close back then.

Close in a way he had never been with anyone else.

Being part of her life had been a treasure.

He would be willing to die again to win that back.

Dawn held onto her anger.

She wouldn’t forgive him.

She didn’t need him in her life.

He wasn’t worth worrying about.

She saw Buffy running across the roof of the building as it collapsed.

Then it hit her, he wasn’t going to make it.

Buffy cried as she told her he was the reason they won.

She held Buffy as she sobbed, but her thoughts were only for Spike.

His friendship had been important to her.

She had never had anyone who loved her like he did.

Now his love was like a lost treasure she would never find again.

So very beautiful and sad... I always hated that things between Dawn and him didn't return to the place they used to be.

I love Dawn and Spike. I hated how she turned against Spike with only Xander's version of what happened. They never really overcame that break during the series. I'm not sure what is going on between them in the comics. Thank goodness for fan fiction. It gives us everything we didn't get from Joss.

Yeah, I don't think the way Dawn turned against Spike was even in character. I mean, I'd expect her to try and defend him until Buffy outright told her he tried to rape her. On the other hand, I couldn't believe it when Dawn kicked Buffy out of her own house, so...

I miss you too, honey. RL is okay. Baby is sapping all of energy, and my shoulders hurt because I decided to write, knit and knead all in the same week, so now I'm just sitting back and relaxing. Even gave up on NaNo.
